How Should You Structure a Search Engine Optimisation Campaign? What Are Some of The Main Factors You Need To Look At?

3:41 pm Technology news

If you have chosen to go down the DIY approach and run and maintain your own SEO Campaign, then you will probably be wondering, like most webmasters, where you should even begin. This isn’t unusual – there is literally tons of information about Search Engine Optimisation out there and relatively little clarification about what works, and how to get the results you need to get.

Start With Keyword Research:

Before you even consider imagining about your new found success in search, start with keyword research – keyword research is absolutely vital to the long-term success of your campaign, and if you’re not doing it then you are not getting the type of results you are capable of.

Start at The Google Keyword Tool – remember, you are not simply looking for high search volume terms, you are looking for search terms you can realistically rank for; don’t simply pick a term out of thin air, actually do some research, find out what is getting search for and then make a decision on whether or not to target that term based on the available resources you have.

If it’s too competitive, then leave it alone – at least for now.

Content Development:

Welcome to the land of the mundane – content development, for a lot of webmasters, is seen as a chore. However, it’s also a vital aspect of success in search – the more unique, quality content you can develop for your site, the better your results will be.

One area to pay particular attention to is long-tail optimisation – this facet of search is simply about attracting queries en masse, rather than targeting any one, two or even three generic terms.

Link Building:

If you are a small business owner, and there are only a handful of search terms that you really want to go after, then this will likely be more than enough (alongside content development and keyword research, of course) – link building, for small websites at least, should take up at least 70% of the time you spend working on your website (outside of the aforementioned activities, and creating quality content through your blog).

Make sure you’re doing it and figure how best to do it for your website.
